

Donald E.Phillips, age 89 of Xenia, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Grand Court of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank G. and Grace (Sheets) Phillips and a brother, Richard L. Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Kersey) Phillips following 25 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Hester (Blair) Phillips and a brother, George (Ed) Phillips. Five children also survive him: Donna and husband Jerry Wolf, Carol and husband Ron Marshall, Donna and husband Lloyd Back, Dave Blair and Dennis and wife Susan Phillips. Grandchildren Teri (Shane) Dodson, Jodi (Rich) Keighley, Lori (Gabe) Wright, Amy (Jesse) Thompson, Jason (Natalie) Blair, John Blair, David (Andrea) Blair, Melissa (Mike) Penney, Jennifer (Chad) Myers, DJ (Lauren) Phillips, and Lisa (Jon) McGarry, and nineteen and a half great grandchildren also survive him, as does one great-great grandchild. Donald worked at Phillips Sand and Gravel for over 46 years and served more than 16 years as the company president. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. An active member of the community, Don was a member of the Beavercreek Volunteer Fire Department and Beavercreek Township Parks Board. He was a founding member of the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Pythias Lodge, Beaver Valley Lodge #753 F & AM and Antioch Shrine as well as other fraternal and local service organizations such as the Beavercreek Lions Club. Friends may call at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. on Thursday evening, May 21, 2015 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 22 at 10 AM. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or Lions Clubs International in Donald’s memory.
