Sadly, Donna passed away at her home in Columbus at the age of 59 after a tough battle with cancer. She was born in Dayton and grew up in Beavercreek on Fudge Drive (termed “Sweet Street” by mom Marlene) graduating from Beavercreek HS in 1979. She went on to become a Buckeye earning her degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Ohio State University in 1984. Donna then headed to New York for a 32 year career at IBM with her final year at Global Foundries when her division was divested in 2015. While working and raising her family, she also earned her Master’s Degree in Microelectronics Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1990! In 2016, she returned to Beavercreek to assist her aging parents.
Donna was vibrant and fun-loving and she so enjoyed travel, hiking, biking, golf, and Buckeye football with her family and friends. She was especially happy to take her zippy Miata convertible and return to living in downtown Columbus these past two years.
Donna was predeceased by her son Ben in 2015 and her mother Marlene this past July. She is survived by her beloved daughter and best friend, Rachel Miura and her husband Ben Nicholson of Los Angeles, CA, father George, brother Dave (Jennifer) and nephews Travis & Connor Kuhlman of San Diego, CA, brother Phil (Judi) of Jamestown, OH and nieces Melissa (Josh) Hensley of New Carlisle, Andrea (Spencer) Smith of Beavercreek and Nicole (Kenny) Miller of Norfolk, VA and their beautiful children.
Family and friends intend to gather at a future date when it is safe to do so to remember Donna and to celebrate this incredible woman, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was deeply loved and admired and is already sorely missed.
