

He is survived by his sons, Judson (Jody) McCarty of Beavercreek, OH and Joseph (Tatiana) McCarty of Marina, CA; and five grandchildren: Nora, Liam, Owen, Sean and Elizaveta.
He is also survived by three siblings, Jim (Betty) McCarty, Chuck (Kathy) McCarty, Mindy (Dave) Atherton and sister-in-law Judy, all of Spring Bay, IL, and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Janice and Phyllis; brothers Robert, David, John, and Richard.
Ed was a devoted uncle, father, and grandfather.
He enjoyed traveling around the great state of Illinois for work while listening to Cardinals baseball on the radio. He was also an active supporter the many young athletes in his extended family. He enjoyed playing basketball with other community members at the Riverview grade school gymnasium. His favorite hobby was making personalized gifts for the many family events: births, weddings, birthdays, etc. He will be missed by a large, loving family and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 13, 2002 at 2:00 PM at the Spring Bay American Legion, 500 Legion Lane, Spring Bay, IL 61611. The event is a dessert potluck, please bring a dessert dish to share. In the spirit of Ed’s generosity, memorials to a favorite charity of your choice are welcomed in lieu of flowers.
