She is survived by her husband, Paul Campbell, daughter, Elizabeth Garey (Michael), son, David Campbell (Evelyn), and sister, Elizabeth Reagan and one granddaughter, Donna Garey.
She graduated from Paintsville High School and then moved to Dayton, Ohio where she met Paul at a local Frisch’s drivein. She was a car hop and he was driving a red 1957 Chevy convertible, and they fell in LOVE. She and Paul were married on October 9, 1960. The family expanded when daughter Liz was born in 1962 and son David in 1966. She was very focused on raising her children to the very best of her ability, always guiding and leading by example. Georgia was a stay-at-home mom until her children reached their teenage years at which point she felt it was ok to return to the workforce. She began work for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) at Gentile Air Force Station and then Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, continuing to work there as an Accounting Technician until her retirement in 2001.
Georgia loved to attend concerts and saw many stars perform over the years - her favorite being Waylon Jennings. She really enjoyed watching boxing and knew her boxers! She adored going to flea markets and scouting for her favorite “find” which was a salt dip. She acquired an impressive collection of dips over many years.
She was a very loving and giving person and was always ready to lend a hand or offer advice. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2007, choosing to keep the diagnosis to herself for two years as she didn’t want to burden anyone. As it progressed, the disease slowly degraded her ability to move, talk and even think. Through it all she rarely complained about why she had been stricken with Parkinson’s and the chronic pain she was in. Georgia will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing her.
A visitation for Georgia will be held Monday, June 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Georgia will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, 27 South Fairfield Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45440.
