Geraldine Young

YOUNG, Geraldine (Holt), age 88, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018. at Hospice of Dayton,Ohio. Geraldine was born January 14, 1930 in Kinver, Ky to Circuit-riding Pentecostal Preacher, Abner and Tilda (Whitehead) Holt. Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, of 52 years, Paul E. Young. Brothers, Delbert and David Holt, Sisters, Zola Goff and Lola Samples. Geraldine is survived by son, Paul D. Young, daughter, Christine Platt, granddaughter Randi J. Jacobs ,( husband David), Brother Herman Holt, Sister-in-law Thelma Leach, Brothers-in-law William Young and John Spangler, and beloved companion dog Harley. Geraldine finished grade school in Leslie Co. Ky, High School at the Kentucky Female Orphans. School, received her Associate degree and teaching certificate from Midway Junior College. With the help of brother, Herman. Her first job was at a one-room school in Hoskinston, KY, then teaching grade school at Stinnette Settlement School before moving to Ohio, where she attended University of Dayton to receive her Ohio teaching certificate. She was a substitute for Northridge District for a short time giving it up to raise a family. Geraldine liked: (Saleing) Garage sales, reading, Time with friends and family, fishing, especially from their boat at Rice Lake, Canada. Babies and animals. She was a past Den Mother and Girl Scout leader and family chauffeur. The family will receive friends at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd.
