

James Vernon Kastle was born May 6, 1939, in Dayton Ohio to the late Joseph G. and Elvira Kastle. Jim went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Jim was 82 years old when he passed away. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary T. Kastle, one daughter, Theresa Powell (Dan), and two sons: Michael Kastle (Maggie Hewitt) and James A. Kastle (Samantha). He is survived by six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by one sister, Susie Schlea. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lou Zimmer, Betty Grewe, Rose Johnson and three brothers, Joseph Kastle, John Kastle and Jerry Kastle.
Jim graduated from the University of Dayton in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering. Jim worked 35 years as an electrical engineer, 30 of those years were spent serving the country with The United States Air Force Wright Aeronautical Labs (AFWAL). Jim enjoyed coin collecting, traveling, woodworking and playing golf. Jim always appreciated a good deal, after retirement he frequented thrift stores and flea markets. Jim had a zest for life and made friends everywhere he went. Jim and Mary’s Christian faith was very important to them attending church together all their married life. For the last 18 years they have been active members of Calvary Open Bible Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday night, March 31, 2022, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek. Jim’s funeral service will be Friday April 1, 2022, at 11:00AM also at Tobias Funeral Home. Jim’s final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calvary Open Bible Family Fund, helping needy families.
