Janice Jeanne Bailey

Janice Jeanne (Vanderhorst) Bailey, age 83, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 6, 1942, the daughter of the late Andrew L.,Sr. and Mildred L. (Brunett) Vanderhorst. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Gayle A. Vanderhorst, her brother, Thomas E. Vanderhorst, Sr. and her brother-in-law, John R. Sanders.

Janice was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed by her three children, James (Jimmy) and wife, Joan Bailey, Charlene Fox, Darlene and husband, Dean Lucas; her four siblings, Marilyn Vanderhorst, Kathleen Sanders, Skip and wife, Carolyn Vanderhorst, Bob and wife, Denise Vanderhorst; five grandchildren, Rachael L. Fox, Stephanie M. (Daniel Thompson) Fox, Daniel P. (Timber Banes) Fox, Corey A.(Lauren) Bailey, Collin A. Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Lily and Emma Thompson, Adalyn and Sophia Bailey. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Janice was a graduate of Beavercreek High School, Class of 1960 and Miami Jacobs with an Associate Degree in Business. She was happily retired enjoying many activities, but above all enjoyed being with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Prayers will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m from St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road, Riverside, Ohio. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery next to her parents and brother. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
