Janice Hurst Chatfield of Kettering, Ohio, passed away at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton on Friday, January 16, 2026. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on March 29, 1949. Janice was the oldest of 3 children born to John and Wilma Hurst of Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Stivers High School in 1967 and then worked as an electroencephalogram (EEG) technician at Miami Valley Hospital and Charles F. Kettering Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. \
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Darlene Hatfield; and brother, Bruce Hurst. She is survived by her niece, Angie; nephews: Eric, Ryan, and Nick; brother-in-law, Charlie Hatfield; and her loving husband of 55 years, Carl.
A visitation will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, followed by the funeral at 2:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45429.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Miami Valley Chapter, or Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
