

Jeanette “Bowlin” Lindsey, age 88, of Catawba Island, Lake Erie and Kettering, Ohio passed away at Trinity Community of Fairborn on November 30, 2023. Jeanette was born on May 16, 1935 in Jellico, Tennessee to the late Ella Mae “Bray” Bowlin and George Washington Bowlin, Sr. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years; Kenneth Leroy Lindsey, Brothers; Benny Bowlin, George Bowlin Jr., Carl Bowlin, Jack Bowlin, Curtis Bowlin, Israel Bowlin, Rollie Bowlin, Sisters; Bessie (Bowlin) Tidwell, Blanche (Bowlin) Kitts, Launa (Bowlin) Scalise Berry, Janie (Bowlin) Mattei, and Nevada Bowlin.
Jeanette is survived by her Children; Kevin Alan (Suzanne Elizabeth) Lindsey, Troy Elgan Lindsey, Grandchildren; Heather Alexa (Nicholas) Young, Sarah Elizabeth (Daniel) Allison, Micah ‘June’ Renee Lindsey, Mason Jay Lindsey, Great-Grandchild; Avery Hammer Young, as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
Jeanette was the last surviving of 13 children by George Washington Bowlin, Sr. and Ella Mae “Bray” Bowlin. She began her adult life in the early 1950’s in Dayton, Ohio where she began working at the National Cash Register (NCR) Company. In 1956 she married Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Lindsey. Kenneth was a NCR parts machining supervisor, retired Navy Chief Petty Officer reservist, auto mechanic, and Lake Erie Charter Captain. Jeanette was a home maker who ardently supported Kenny’s auto repair business by providing logistics and parts support. She also took pride in planting, growing, harvesting and canning vegetables in a large backyard garden in Kettering. Jeanette worked a number of years at Orchard Park Elementary School as a teacher’s aide and was very popular in the lunchroom. After Kenny’s passing, she worked at the East Harbor State Park in Marblehead, Ohio, Mon Ami restaurant in Port Clinton, Ohio and for Cary Ferguson at his Art Gallery at Lakeside, Marblehead.
She focused her life on her family and especially her grandchildren later in life. Her true joy was spending time caring for, visiting with and playing with her grandchildren at every opportunity. This became her primary life mission. Jeanette was a resident of “The Terraces” in Kettering Ohio for nearly 20 years. She was popular for providing transportation to residents who needed to run errands for food, supplies, medicine and doctor appointments. Jeanette attended the Baptist Church and was a person with strong faith throughout her life. Jeanette is remembered as a strong, independent woman with a spicy and loving disposition throughout her entire life. She will be greatly missed by those surviving her.
