She spent her early years working as a waitress, later building a second career in medical billing—a testament to her determination and adaptability. Joan was known for her sharp sense of humor and her love of reading, often finishing three or four books a week. She found joy in the rhythm of bingo, and the comfort of familiar routines.
Joan had a gift for comfort cooking, especially around the holidays. Her Thanksgiving spreads were legendary, anchored by her unforgettable gravy—a family favorite that brought everyone to the table. It was her way of showing up, of offering warmth and connection.
Though life presented its share of challenges, Joan worked hard to be present for her grandchildren, and those closest to her saw the effort behind the scenes. Her legacy lives on in the stories she told, the meals she prepared, and the moments of laughter she sparked.
Joan is survived by her husband, James Cook; her three children, Steve Dolan, Laura Dolan, and Michael Dolan; two grandchildren, Nathan and Emily Dolan. She also has three living sisters Judith Page, Cheryl Cohen and Kimberly Davis. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
