
SMITH, Joe Mack, 75, passed away surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, July 31, 2011. He was born November 20, 1935 to the late James and Mattye Smith. Joe was a lifelong resident of the Dayton area who graduated from Roosevelt High School and Ohio University. He retired from Schering after 28 years as pharmaceutical sales rep. Joe was very active in his community giving his time by volunteering with such organizations as the Clown Alley Dayton, Dor-Wood Optimist Club, Kettering Fairmont High School, Kettering Medical Center and Cox Arboretum. He had a true passion for the Christmas season and played Santa Claus to hundreds of kids, for over 18 years. He touched the lives of many people with his smile, generosity, and sense of humor. Joe will be forever remembered by his wife Beverly; his children Mike Smith (Claudia) of Cincinnati and Julie Morey (Rob) of Columbus; his grandchildren Garret and Ian Smith of Cincinnati, Axel and Ava Morey of Columbus, Michael, Matthew and Julia of New Carlisle and Kelby Tackett of West Chester; and other family members, Gina (John) Jones of New Carlisle and Kert Tackett of West Chester. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service, at 11 am, Friday, August 5, 2011 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. Pastor John Konz officiating. Interment, David’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am Friday until time of service.
