With deep sorrow yet great hope in his life to follow, we announce that John Paul Barclay, age 20, a beloved son, brother, family member, and friend passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was born in Sedalia, Missouri on August 15, 2001, to Tim and Julie Barclay. John Paul grew up in Beavercreek, Ohio where he attended St Luke Elementary School and graduated from Carroll High School in 2020. He was accepted to Miami University where he planned to study medicine in hopes of becoming a neurosurgeon.
Those who knew John Paul will miss his beautiful smile and giving heart most. He had a special way of connecting to people’s hearts and was always willing to spend time with folks and give advice if asked. He wore his heart on his sleeve and gave it away freely. He was a spiritual young man whose faith was very important to him. He led several retreats for young people and encouraged us all to a deeper faith in our Father who loves us. His presence in our lives will be profoundly missed.
He enjoyed hanging out with his brothers and friends fishing, playing sports and video games, target shooting, and pumping iron. He took pride in his fashion sense and would often brighten up the room with colorful combinations. And, he cared about sharks, supporting Shark Angels and encouraging others to follow his lead.
When you think of John Paul, think of big smiles, big stories and a Big God. He ran the race and finished strong; may we all be so blest.
John Paul was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gerald Schuchman and five preborn siblings, Danton, Lawrence, Tess, Justin and Agnes. He is survived by his parents Tim and Julie Barclay, brothers Peter (Victoria), Michael and sister Catherine. Grandparents Dave and Sylvane Barclay and Janet Schuchman.
