John was born on February 19, 1946, and grew up in Vandalia, Ohio. He graduated from Vandalia Butler High School in 1964. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years and continued his service for five additional years in the Army Reserve.
It was during his service in the Army that John formed a lifelong friendship with his best friend, Henry Franz, with whom he remained in close contact—rarely missing a day without a phone call.
John spent the majority of his career with DAP, Inc., before retiring from DuPont. He had a lifelong love of sports, especially basketball, softball, and soccer, and he shared that passion by coaching youth teams for many years. In retirement, nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren play. Whether in the bleachers or at the bowling alley, he was always there — smiling, cheering, and supporting them every step of the way.
A devoted member of Restoration Park Church in Medway, John was deeply committed to his faith, which guided his life and relationships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene Partlow, and his stepmother Melba Partlow; and his siblings Mary Edith, Dave (Pat), Carl (Stella), Paul (Carolyn), Chuck (Betty), Chris (Bill) Barrow, and Rebecca (Bernard) Wilson.
John is survived by his siblings, Therese (Carol) Schmieg; Miriam (Bill) Hollingshead; Susan (Dick) Landversicht; Rita (Bob) Michael; Joe (Mary) Partlow; and Kathy (Tom) Schopmeyer. He is also survived by his three sons, Kenneth (Deanne) Partlow, Edward, and Andrew.
He leaves behind his grandchildren: Ashley (Luke) Ream, Katelyn (Roscoe) Hammond, Gavyn (Mickenzie) Partlow, Damian Anaya, Ashlee Anaya, Sophia Feinstein, Marshie Feinstein, and Jamie Partlow; as well as his great-grandchildren, Oakley Ream, Anson Ream, Hayden Hammond, Lexi Hart, Peyton Longstreath, Hannah Longstreath, Carygan Phillips, and Charlotte Anaya. He is also lovingly remembered by more than 100 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate John’s life at Restoration Park Church, 55 Restoration Park Dr, Medway, OH 45341, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
