Joselyn "Josie" Pierce peacefully completed her earthly journey on December 20, 2025, welcomed into the arms of her Savior. Josie spent her life caring for others-whether through her long career as a nurse, her volunteerism in her church and community, or the countless ways she showed up for the people she loved.
Josie is survived by her three children, Mark (Joni) Pierce, Holly (Greg) Anderson, and Timothy (Kathe) Pierce; her eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Garfield) Miller, Matthew (Amy) Pierce, Andrew (Melissa) Anderson, Megan (Collin) Morelock, James (Rachel) Anderson, John Anderson, Taylor (Sean) Cokingtin, and Travis (Janvi) Pierce; and her eight great-grandchildren, Cooper, Clara, and Cole Morelock; Carter, Emilia, and Gregory Miller; Myra Pierce; and Luca Anderson. She is also survived by her siblings Denise (Don) Quinn and Joseph (Lisa) Holt, Jr and brother-in-law Edward Pierce. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben Pierce, son Jack, sister Martha Holt, and parents, Kathleen (John) Bremner and Joseph (Bernice) Holt.
A devoted follower of Christ, Josie lived her faith through action-steadfast, sincere, and full of heart. After a long career as a nurse, she found a calling volunteering with Hope Rising in Dayton, Ohio, where she poured her energy into supporting women with compassion and dignity. She also used her gift of sewing as a quiet ministry of its own, stitching love into memory bears.
Josie's fiery spirit, bold determination, and generosity shaped everyone who knew her. She faced life with tenacity and faith, and in her later years, she spoke often of longing for "a new body." Today, her family rests assured that she has exactly that-whole, restored, and held in perfect peace. "O death, where is your victory. O death, where is your sting."
Her legacy carries on in the lives she touched, the family she adored, and the countless acts of love she wove into the world. Service details will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hope Rising: Pregnancy Care Center or Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
