She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 22, 1945 to the late Marcellus and Mildred Hausfeld.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Chuck Schafer; siblings, Virginia Hentrich, and Linda Hausfeld; children, Steve (Lyn) Schafer, Kris (Greg) Edwards, and John (Angie) Schafer; grandchildren, Josh (Hanna) Edwards, Ashley Schafer, Abby (Colt) Derham, Katie (Caleb) McWilliams, Austin Schafer, Allison Schafer, Charlie Schafer; and great-granddaughter, Elle McWilliams.
Joyce loved spending time with her family and friends, and was always the life of the party. She enjoyed many family vacations to the beach, and especially enjoyed her time at Houghton Lake. She touched many lives with her humor, kindness, infectious personality, and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
A visitation for Joyce will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek. Mass will be on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Luke Church. A graveside and burial will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00am.
