

Judson Louis Parkhurst, age 90, "Parky" of Worthington, OH (formerly Kettering) went to his heavenly home peacefully in his sleep on October 1, 2019. His family and his firm belief in God gave him peace. Jud was named for Adoniram Judson, Jr., after an American Congregationalist and later Particular Baptist missionary, who served in Burma for almost forty years. Judson was born to Craig Waltimore Parkhurst & Ruby Marie McVay Parkhurst in Easton, PA on April 6, 1929. He became a Christian at Santa Claus Land church camp in the 7th grade. Judson was immersed in the Central Christian Church for 57 years. He taught & attended Bible study, was an elder, President of Elders, gave communion for shut-ins, was a Sunday school teacher of the adult class and acted in the Last Supper Tableau for 15 years. Jud was also a chaplain for the Prison Ministry where he met with prisoners in small groups of 20 to bring them to Christ. He enjoyed teaching English as a 2nd language, aircraft & car shows. Judson graduated from Bossie High School '46 & Evansville College '52 Evansville, Indiana with a degree in Business Management. He met the love of his life, Dotty Irene Riggle on a blind date in ‘49 (on the night he first called Dotty, she was in Nurse's training and in delivery for her baby sister Judy) and they married Thanksgiving, November 1950. Judson & family moved to Dayton and worked for DESC and finally retired form Wright Patterson Air Force Civil service as a contract manager & negotiator. Jud was a Korean War Veteran & served his country in the army 1951-1953 as an anti-aircraft radar technician during the Korean War. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. & the Army Chemical Center at Haverty Grace, MD. Jud was an avid airplane pilot and flew his Aeronck plane, was a member of EAA Experimental Air Craft & JAARS Jungle Aviation & Radio Service. He was active in Conservative Republican politics, working at the polls, writing letters, & donating to Republican candidates. His love of the USA made him a great patriot. Judson is survived by his wife, Dotty Irene Riggle Parkhurst Worthington,OH, Janet & Judge Harland Hale- Worthington, OH, Steve & Syrena Parkhurst-Estero, FL, Tom & Deanna Parkhurst- Delaware, OH, Jeff & Sarah Parkhurst-Columbus, OH, Barb & Doug Oaks-Centerville, OH, Grandchildren- Shannon & Dave Amann, Ben & Hannah Parkhurst, Lindsay Parkhurst, Bethany & Ben Kaseman, Josiah & Evie Parkhurst, Rebecca Parkhurst, Matthew Parkhurst, Harrison & Julie Hale & step grandson Daniel Lee. Great grandchildren Heath, Erin, Ellora Rose & Hanna Hale, Isaac, & Zoe Amann, Hayden & Josie Parkhurst. Judson's Memorial Service will be at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek. Visitation 11 a.m. with a service at 12 p.m. Following a military burial will take place at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 170 N. Valley Road Xenia OH, (Take 675 to Xenia 35 East, exit right onto N. Valley Road). Judson will be buried with his brothers, Ira & Arthur Parkhurst at 2 p.m. The service will be performed by nephew Pastor Jim Riggle. A luncheon will be served afterwards at Central Christian Church at 2:45 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Judson's memory to Central Christian Church, 1200 Forrer Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
