

Duncan, Kenneth James (Ret. Colonel USAF), 93 of Beavercreek, OH peacefully passed away October 17, 2015. He is preceded in death by his two wives, Jean (Feldschau d: 1950), mother of his two oldest children, and Rosemary (Oliver) married for 62 yrs who recently passed away July 8th , mother of his 3 younger children; his parents William and Ann (Davis) Duncan. Ken is survived by his older brother, Robert L. Duncan (Ellie) of Sparks, NV, younger brother, Roy Duncan of Salem OR; five children, Kathleen Powell of Chicago, IL and Robert Duncan (Jan) of Minneapolis, MN; Ken Duncan II (Denise) of Beavercreek, OH, Karen Haviland (John) of Oakwood, OH, and Tracy Maxi (John) of Centerville, OH; 11 grandchildren: Anthony Powell; Mike, Art, & Ruth Duncan (Johnson); Abbey & Brooke Duncan; Courtney & Kelsey Haviland; John, Robert & Cara Maxi; 4 great-grandchildren: Anthony & Aaron Powell; Morgan (great granddaughter) & Ben Johnson. Ken was born in Newport, OR July 13th, 1922, he graduated from Tillamook H.S. where he lettered in three sports football, basketball and baseball. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of Oregon. Ken served 34 years in two branches of the military and was a veteran of two wars. He spent his 1st 4 yrs of service enlisted with the US Marines during WWII in the pacific theater (Tarawa, and Okinawa) and 30 yrs post college in the USAF. He was active duty supporting the Korean War effort and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. His service medals were numerous. He valued his Legion of Merit Medal and his Bronze Star Medal (Vietnam). Upon retiring from WPAFB, Ken went back to his roots and fulfilled his dream by building a farm outside of Tipp City. He retired from farm life in 1996 and moved to Beavercreek where he devoted himself to family and community service. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, served as a past president of the Lions Club, member of the Elks Club, and a Master Mason. Most of all, Ken will be remembered as a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. A viewing begins at 9am with a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. Pastor Robert Wackerman officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
