Laverne D. King

Laverne D. King, age 81 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert E. King, in 2003. She was also preceded by her parents, Orie and Ella Dickison, her brother David Dwight Dickison, and sister Sherry Gail Dean. She is survived by three children: Katherine (Jeff) Grosser, Robert (Jeannette) King and David (Lori) King, her brothers, Marvin Lee Dickison and Charlie Dale Dickison. She is also survived by her grandchildren: John Kirker, Sondra Keen, Joseph King, Aaron King, Ryan King, Jessica Dill and Alicia King, as well as her 6 great grandchildren. Laverne was a 1954 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School and worked as a Data Processing Manager for GM. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Milton Athletic Club Ladies Auxiliary. She and Bob loved their Saturday evening steak dinners at the Old Hickory Barbeque. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 830 Bowen St., Dayton, OH 45410 on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10 AM with Fr. Greg Konorman, Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 310 Allen St. Dayton, OH 45410 in Laverne’s memory.
