

Miller, F. Leon, age 84, of Washington Township passed away on Wednesday January 4, 2017. Leon was born in rural Otisco, IN on November 11, 1932. He was preceded in death by his son, David Lee; parents, Celeste and Early Miller; sisters, Evelyn Kelly (Charles) and Doris Irene Potts; brothers, Erie Noel (Mary), Willard Ray (Mary and Margaret), and Theodore. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sheila M. Miller; daughter, Angela (Shawn) Agnew of Polebridge, Montana; grandson, Austin Hice of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Melanie Hice of Montana; sister, Sylvia Craig of Savona, NY; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Owen of Holiday, FL, Marlene Barker of Burlington, Canada, Lorraine (Graham) Hartley and Sharon Watkins of Scarborough, England; numerous nieces and nephews including Craig S. Owen, MFN. Leon retired, with distinction, after 30 years of dedicated service, as Chief, Bureau of Weights and Measures for the City of Dayton, OH. He was a member of the National Conference on Weights and Measures for seven years. Leon served twice as the president of the Ohio Weights and Measures Association. He belonged to Saint Johns #13 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Antioch Shrine. He was charter member #2 of the Dayton Auto Race Fan Club and a life member of the Milton Athletic Club where he loved to play pinochle with his friends. Leon was an avid motorcyclist, boater and private pilot. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
