

Van Oss, Marianna, age 94, a former longtime resident of Beavercreek passed away at her residence in Springfield OH surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 31 December 1918 the daughter of Joseph J. and Agatha (Burgmeier) Zimmer, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Collette Zimmer, her sisters Dorothy Van Oss and Betty Catanzaro. Marianna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 71 years, Donald E. Van Oss; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jay Bryan of Pentwater MI and Agatha and Steve Coffman of New Carlisle, two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Van Oss of New Carlisle and Greg and Denise Van Oss of Springfield; three brothers and two sisters in law, J. Robert Zimmer of Kettering, James and Joyce Zimmer of FL and John and Peggy Zimmer of MO, brother-in-law Russell E. Van Oss; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Marianna was a charter member of St Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek, a reader, Eucharistic Minister and member of the Altar Rosary Society. For a number of years she was a teller at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Beavercreek then worked as Dental Assistant before she retired. She was a wonderful and creative designer of clothing having learned many skills from her mother Agatha. She excelled at cooking, especially during the Christmas season when she made a wide variety of cookies, candies and desserts. As a youth she was quite the athlete and was very proud of her 4 varsity years playing basketball for Beavercreek High School. She had many friends who fondly recall her outgoing personality, her infectious smile and sense of humor. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Sunday 2 June at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Mass of Christian Burial, is 10 AM on Monday 3 June, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 209 West Lake Avenue, New Carlisle, OH with Fr Kenneth Hummel, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, immediately following. Contributions, if desired, may be made in memory of Marianna to Hospice of Dayton.
