Martha A Aulbach Graw

Graw, Martha A. (Marty), 73, of Beavercreek, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her residence. She is preceded in death by her parentsJoseph E and Marie Petrie Aulbach and brother Paul Aulbach.. Survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, Paul Graw (Colonel USAF Ret) of Beavercreek; son Bruce H. Graw and daughter Catherine G. Hebert; grandsons Timothy Hebert and Daniel Hebert; sister Regina Burch of Louisville; many nieces, nephews and friends. Marty was a proud Air Force wife and an active participant in the Officer’s Spouses’ Club, the Retired Officer’s Wives and Widows and volunteered weekly at the Wright Patt Base Thrift Shop. A graduate of the University of Louisville (U of L), she was a big sports fan and an enthusiastic supporter of the Louisville Cardinals. Marty was a tournament level tennis player and a former women’s open champion in Kentucky in both the singles and doubles. She was the first female to be awarded an athletic scholarship at U of L and earned varsity letters while playing on the men’s tennis team. She played competitively during Paul’s assignments in Texas, Hawaii, and Ohio. In 1995 she was inducted into the Dayton Tennis Hall of Fame. More recently she turned to golf and had many friends in the ladies leagues at Wright Patt. She loved to bake for the men’s golf group, the Blitz, and enjoyed walking 9 holes with them. Marty was a devout member of the Wright Patt Queen of Peace community and very strong in her Catholic faith. Marty always said that for her visitation, she hoped the men would wear golf shirts and the ladies dress in bright colors. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at Chapel 3, WPAFB. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd at Grange Hall Rd. from 5-8 PM Monday and at the chapel from 12-1 PM Tuesday.
