October 25, 1954 – March 30, 2019
Marti Cole, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at home on March 30th, 2019 at the age of 64. She was born to Albert and Toby Olevitch in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Bill Cole; children, Adam Knoblock, Lyndi Miller, Benjamin Cole, Matthew Cole and their families; grandchildren Carter and Campbell Miller. She is also survived by her four siblings and their families.
Marti for many years was a nurse providing ICU and neonatal ICU care at Miami Valley Hospital. Her passion for infants was undeniable and she was known amongst her family as the “baby-whisperer”. After her nursing career, she moved on to sales with Abbott Labs and then worked as a physician recruiter for Premier Physician Services, a company her husband helped found. She then concentrated on raising her children, which she considered her most important occupation. Above all she was dedicated to her family. She was host to many extended family gatherings. She loved to cook and was well known for her gourmet meals. She had a generous heart and could be counted on by her friends to be there in their time of need. Many of her children’s friends considered her their second mom. Marti was very involved in fund raising for The Miami Valley School and served as a “team mom” for many of her children’s sports teams. Although not a trained interior designer, her innate creativity enabled her to beautifully maintain her home and renovate the family farm in Asheville, NC.
Marti’s life is an example of one well-lived and one where she left a lasting positive impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Visitation begins Sunday, April 7th at 2:30pm, followed by her funeral service at 4:00pm at Christ Church United Methodist (3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering, OH 45429). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shoes 4 the Shoeless, a local charity she felt strongly about at P.O Box 41655, Dayton, Ohio 45441 or at http://shoes4theshoeless.org/donate.
She was an amazing woman and will be sorely missed by so many.
