Spitler, Marvin G., “Jake”, age 81 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Village, exactly six years after his daughter, Sharon. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Adkins) Spitler and son, Mark Spitler of Centerville, as well as a brother, Bob (Danielle) Spitler of Huber Heights. Jake was a veteran of both the USMC and US Army; he served in Germany as a member of the Constabulary, the only armed forces group ever to have been formed, functioned and disbanded entirely on foreign soil. The group was tasked with liberating internment camps and repatriating the refugees. Jake was employed as plant security at Delco and with Brink’s security; he was also a member of VFW 2800. Funeral services will be held at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave at Fauver on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday evening, February 1. Interment will be in the Dayton VA Cemetery following the service.
