

SCOTT, Michael G., of Centerville (May 22, 1944 – May 31, 2018) died after a brave fight against cancer. He is survived by Janine (Potter) Scott, his wife of 47 years; his daughters, Jennifer (Kyle) Kirts of Centerville and Kristen (Mike) Brown of Bel Air, MD; and his grandchildren, Brendan, Colin, and Maire Clare Kirts, and Conor and Ryleigh Brown; brother and sister-in-law Carol (Bill) Michniak; nieces and nephews, Christina Nunn of Chicago, goddaughter, Michelle Vaigl, Carri Joy, Nikki Aquino, Bernie Sobieraj all of Akron, OH, Tiffanie Callis, Gabe and Nick Scott all of Sarasota, FL; cousins, and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Jeanne (Altendorf) Scott, siblings, Vicki Sobieraj and Gary Scott, and grandparents, Chris and Alice Altendorf, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joy and Ted Nunn. A 1962 graduate of Fairmont H.S., he served in the U.S. Air Force Geodetic Survey Squad 1962-1966. He graduated from Wright State University with a degree in Geological Engineering. His career included the City of Kettering Engineering Department, the Montgomery County Water Department, and Southwest Florida Water Management District. He retired from Price Brothers Company after 20+ years. A Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio, Mike was a member of the American Legion Kettering Post #598, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a long-time member of Incarnation Church. Mike was also a certified GDSA and USAS swimming official. Always fun-loving, devoted to family, an avid Ohio State football fan, his passion was his family’s Genealogy that dates to the founding of his beloved country and his Scot-Irish heritage. Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Catholic Church Thursday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. His family will greet visitors at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial following Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
