

Heath, Mildred Ellen (Scoby), 89 years old passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 21, 2012 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. Proceeded in death by her parents and loving husband George Heath as well as many family members and friends that have gone before her. Born September 19, 1922 in St Paris, Ohio to Warren & Sylvia Scoby (Stradling) She had 5 brothers and 2 sisters and lived in St. Paris, Ohio. Graduated from St Paris High School in 1941 and went to work at Wright Patterson Air Farce Base for several years. Mildred married the love of her life George A. Heath December 12, 1942 while he served in the Army. After the service they moved to Dayton and lived the rest of their lives in Dayton/Kettering area and had two children Martha and Frank. She and her husband founded Heath Dental Laboratory in 1957. The business is being carried on by her son Frank Heath and his son Christopher Heath. Mildred and George became very involved members of Greenmont Oak Park Community Church and devoted much of their time and life to the church. They both loved music and sang in the church choir for many years. Mildred gave much of her time teaching Sunday school. Mildred was chosen by the members of the Republican Women’s Club of Kettering to be the clubs honoree at the “Tribute to Women” November 21, 1982 by the National Federation of Republican Women and Ohio Federation of Republican Women. She was named Women of the Year 1982 in Columbus, Ohio. They became involved in a self-help group called Recovery International and were part of that for many years. They enjoyed dancing lessons and traveling to California and Hawaii over the years. She loved baby-sitting her grandchildren and other friend’s children. Enjoying many hobbies such as reading, keeping a journal for years, sewing and cooking (baking thousands of chocolate chip cookies) and mending her children’s and their friends clothing. She made hundreds of stuffed elephants and gave them to friends and family. She used to crochet little hats and give them to her friends to keep their heads warm. Caring for others was something that was just natural for her. Mildred will be remembered by her beautiful smile and kind words she shared with everyone. She saw good in every one that she met, and never met a stranger. Her motto was: “To Thy Own Self Be True” She is survived by her children and their spouses and 2 grandchildren: Martha and Don Porter of Grants Pass, Oregon; Frank and Beth Heath of Dayton, Ohio; Christopher Heath and fiance Hayley Hartenstein of Dayton, Ohio; Dr Lyndsey Emery of Philadelphia, PA, 2 brothers Timothy & Faye Stradling and Ralph & Doris Stradling and 1 sister Diane and Melvin Perdue and many nieces and nephews. Special extended family Linda & Dale Grant and Bill & Pat Howe. There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:00am Saturday, June 2nd 2012 at Greenmont Oak Park Community Church, 1921 Woodman Dr., Dayton, OH 45420 (937-252-6705). There will be a burial service on Sunday June 3rd 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery in St. Paris at 2:00pm. Donations can be made to charity of your choice or to Greenmont Oak Park Community Church and Hospice of Dayton. We thank everyone at Walnut Creek Suites and Nursing Center for their loving care as well as Hospice, they were all her Angels.
