

Age 97 of Dayton, Ohio passed away on July 2, 2011 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dalton Pearson, in 1975; her second husband, Harold Bock in 1994 and her brother Ray Mallory. Opal is survived by two daughters, Sheila and husband, Cid Sideroff of The Villages, Fla., Carolyn and husband, Mike Boehmer of Dayton; one son, Gary Pearson and wife Carol of Boca Raton, Fla.; 5 grandchildren, Scott Pearson and Stefanie Pearson-Short, Brad and his wife Jennifer Boehmer, Sam and his wife Tara Boehmer, Jeff Langston; 8 great-grandchildren; one nephew, James Mallory and many loving extended family members. She was a member of the Colorado Ave. Baptist Church, and a retired Mad River Twp. School System Teacher and Reading Consultant. Opal also was a member of the Ohio and Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association, the Mad River Employees Organization and the Epsilon Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa. Opal moved back to Dayton from Leesburg, Fla. in 1995, where she resided for 11 years at 10 Wilmington Place then moved to Walnut Creek Nursing Center in 2006. Friends and family may visit from 4-6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 pm at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BELMONT CHAPEL, 648 Watervliet Ave., Dayton. Interment following at Woodland Cemetery.
