Patricia Ann Van Schaik

Patricia “Pat” Ann Begley Van Schaik, age 83 of Oldsmar, FL and Russells Point, OH and formerly of Dayton, OH passed away September 28, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John. Pat is preceded in death by her parents John G. Begley and Marie Lauterbach Begley, her brothers Jack and Roy Begley, her sister Jean Donovan, and her daughter Carolyn Van Schaik. Pat is survived by her sister Ruth Albers and brother Bob Begley (Carol); children, Marie Van Schaik McManus (Michael) of Dayton, Sharon Van Schaik Kale (Bill) of Oldsmar, FL, John Van Schaik (Maureen Costigan) of Arnold, MD, Patty Van Schaik of Dayton, Greg Van Schaik (Julie) of Powell, OH and Jim Van Schaik (Chrystie) of Loveland, OH. She is also survived by her son-in-law Rob Zucco of Niagara Falls, NY. In addition, she is survived by 23 grandchildren: Ali DiLoreto (Marc), Ami Beam, Bridget and Patrick McManus; Brian, Justin, and Shawn Kale, Kate, Clare, and Sara Van Schaik; Lauren (Sean Spurr), Ellen and Maggie Smith, Shannon, Michelle, and Jayne Van Schaik; Olivia and Lorena Zucco; Jared, Julia, and Jenna Van Schaik. Pat had two great-grandchildren: Madilyn Beam and Nicolas DiLoreto. Pat is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Pat was a very loving and caring person who was highly respected and liked by everyone who knew her or came in contact with her. She was a role model for her children and grandchildren. Pat was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Clearwater, FL and St. Mary of the Woods, Russells Point, OH. Pat was a graduate of Patterson Cooperative High School, Dayton, OH. Pat retired from the University of Dayton. She was an active volunteer for many organizations. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, OH 45429 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am, Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Queen of Apostles Community, 4435 E. Patterson Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45430 followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton OH.
