Peter Jeffrey Malone, age 57, passed away after a long battle with an ultimately undiagnosed pulmonary disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Karmen Malone, his son Ryan Malone, his daughter Jaimie Malone (Ivan Salmeron) and his daughter Hannah Malone, granddaughters Gianna and Camila Salmeron, brother Michael Malone (Alison), and sisters Cathy Malone (Michael Horne) and Nancy Kaemmer (Brian). He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Peter Malone, his father in law, Orville Bruce Hilliker, and his nephew Michael Key Malone. “Pete,” a 25-year USAF veteran, proudly served his country with deployments and postings in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as bases across the U.S. He carried a little bit of New Jersey with him around the world. Peter retired in March of 2011 with the rank of Master Sergeant and became a civilian budget analyst supporting the military out of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and held a special place in his heart for his dogs Kiyoshi and Yuki. Peter was most happy when spending time with his family and watching his children play sports throughout their lives. He had an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went, from Romanian tradesmen to Kurdish tribespeople, and pretty much everyone in between. His ability to make people smile and laugh out loud was legendary. His gentle rants about the world around him were epic. He didn’t much like the Lakers or the Chiefs, instead devoting his sports passions to all things New England – the Celtics, the Patriots and most importantly his beloved Boston Red Sox. He was an avid collector of sport memorabilia and a regular visitor to the base BX to grab the latest issues. Pete somehow found time to be an umpire, statistician and referee whenever the mission called. He was a self-proclaimed master griller. His kids will tell you there was no one more fun to be with on their summer road trips up and down our interstates. He will be desperately missed by all who knew him, cherished forever by those who loved him. A memorial visitation will be held at the Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road on Wednesday, May 29th at 3pm, a memorial service will be held from 3:30pm - 4:30pm. A reception will occur after the service from 5pm - 7:30pm at the Beavercreek Event Center across the street from the funeral home;1585 Grange Hall Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432
