

WEIMER, Peter M., age 65 of Centerville, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Miami Valley Hospital. Pete was born October 28, 1950 in Dayton to the late Jacob and Clara Weimer. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Erin Elizabeth Weimer and two infant sons; brother Thomas Weimer; aunt Mary Donahue; uncles Rev John Cavanaugh, Karl Weimer, and Richard Weimer. Pete is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jan; daughter Rachel Weimer; son Jonathan (Shelby) Weimer; granddaughter Annie Garton; brother Robert (Gay)Weimer; sister Mary Weimer; brother Joseph (Suzanne) Weimer; sister Katherine (William) Nahhas, many cousins, nieces, & nephews; and his three dogs Dublin, Halle, and Violet. Pete graduated from Alter High School in 1968, received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton and his Master of Science degree from Wright State University. During the course of his 33-year teaching career, Pete taught classes in biology, anatomy and physiology, physics, chemistry, and earth science at Dayton City Schools’ Dunbar High School. Pete was the most devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved his wife Jan, daughter Rachel, son Jonathan, and precious granddaughter Annie with all of his heart, protected them, provided for them and always made them feel secure. He had varied interests, truly enjoyed people, and was blessed to share life experiences with a very close circle of friends. An avid outdoorsman, Pete loved to fish and served as president, board member, and lake chairman of the Centerville Rod and Reel Club. On most days one could find Pete out in a boat on the lake, laughing and sharing stories with his friends, constructing underwater structures for the fish, or building new docks for the club members. He was a respected member of the International Association of R.S. Prussia Collectors, where he made many friends, served on the Board of Directors, wrote articles, and enjoyed exchanging knowledge with club members. A member of the South YMCA since high school, Pete worked out regularly and enjoyed the friendship of the people he met there. Pete loved sports and was a loyal UD Flyers fan and Bengals fan. He was a vital man who loved life and he will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched. The family wishes to thank the compassionate nurses, patient care technicians, doctors, and all employees serving the patients in the Bone Marrow Unit at Miami Valley Hospital for their exceptional care and empathy. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
