

CHRYSLER, Richard J., age 85 of Xenia, passed away at Greenwood Manor on Thursday, March 10, 2011. He was born on December 14, 1925 to Richard and May (Davis) Chrysler. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard (Chris), and sister Lena Lorbach. He resided with his sister Anna (Eckenrode) Bahnsen during his teenage years after his father was injured in a railroad accident. He joined the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and was training to be a bomber pilot when the war ended. He returned to Columbus and received his business administration degree from Bliss College. He married Barbara Ann Chapman on December 14, 1948 and they were blessed with 53 years together until she passed on March 31, 2001. Richard and Barbara worked together to start Dick’s Trailers in Columbus and from there started Ohio Trailer Supply Inc. and together they owned Gilbert Trailer Rental and were the majority owners in Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio. The race track was a passion for both of them for 30 years. Richard is survived by his wife Ruth, who was faithfully by his side for 6 years following his stroke, of Xenia; sister Anna Bahnsen of Palmetto, FL and five children of Dick and Barbara, Jack (Janice) of Columbus, Bill and Richard (Rick) of Xenia, Elizabeth Hosta of Xenia and Susan of Yellow Springs. Grandchildren, Corey Chrysler of Columbus, Ryan (Jennifer) Chrysler of Columbus, Tara (Kent MacDuff) and Cody Hosta of Xenia, Brandon, Jordan and Kelly Chrysler of South Carolina, and Kyer Smith of Columbus. Great-grandchildren, Colton, Maegan and Michael Chrysler of Columbus – Katlyn MacDuff of Xenia; step-children,Fred Hubble of Columbus, Floyd (Peg) Hubbel of Columbus, Karen (Jack) Sheline of Coconut Creek, FL, nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd at Grange Hall Rd. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the funeral home and on Wednesday, March 16 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
