Debra,        My wife, Ida, and I met you at the wedding reception for Tim and Mary Harman.  We sat across the table from you and Richard and enjoyed the conversation.  That was the last time I saw Richard and the first time since I left college in 1982. I wondered then if I would ever get to see him again.  Yes, I was blessed with that one last meeting.  While in college I respected Richard as the steady, even-keeled voice of reason.  I admired his quiet determination to succeed in school as I was bumbling around aimlessly for 5 years.  I have no doubt that Richard planted the seed of Christianity in the heart of my good fiend, Tim Harman.  Through Tim I have been strengthened as a Christian and am amazed at the strength and outreach of the branches from that seed.  I didn't know Richard well, but well enough to know he was a special person.  Ultimately, he changed my life for the better.  I was blessed to have known him.

Loreaux family, 
Although I was younger for many of the memories I have of Richard, I can remember him being extremely kind, smart, well-spoken, loving, and caring. I always loved going into Franklin Chapel on Sunday and listening to Richard play the guitar so effortlessly. I can also remember going to the old Loreaux house on Little Indian Trail in New Richmond and everyone sitting in the living room listening to Richard playing guitar and singing with my dad. He was truly a man of God and I am honored to have known him as well as I did. God was very glad to have one of his strongest believers come home to his kingdom. I am truly sorry for your loss and all of my family is praying for yours.

Richard, it is so hard and painful to realize that you have left us for now.  As I pray for comfort and grace to rain down upon Debra, Jireh, Hosanna and the rest of the family, and upon all of us who knew you, I thank the Lord with gratitude for placing in my life such a dear friend as Richard.  We met in the 2nd grade and went through the adventures of life together.  Richard, how could I have survived being a teenager without your friendship?  You saved my life and my sanity more times than I can count.  Your wisdom and encouragement made being around you heartwarming.  The fun times we had could fill large heavy books!  As we grew up, in spite of all life's trials, you showed me acceptance, patience, and grace.  Most of all, in your bold gentle way, you showed me Christ---and the hope I finally found is the same hope that you now hold in your hands forever.  May you bask in the warm glow of Jesus to your soul's content---and be assured that the Light you reflected still bears fruit in this world.  I will miss you dear friend. Ta-Ta-For-Now

Richard was truly a gentleman and a scholar, and to our daughter almost a second Dad. We all remember the Y2K party and how prepared  Richard was. His smile and laugh were infectious to all who knew him. His love for Starbucks coffee was so great I can remember Hosanna almost being late for Gymnastics because the line was so long at Starbucks. His love for the stars would bring him out with his telescope so all of us could see. His love for God brought us to his church for dinner, and our daughter even remembers being at church and hearing President Bush had won the election. I remember telling him about Jireh being so intelligent, and with that grin he would say, "Oh yes, I wish he knew the Books of the Bible that well." Kody remembers when the table cloth caught on fire at Hosanna's birthday party, but Richard saved the day. The hide and seek games were so fun she remembers. His love for his computers and his computer room amazed her. We are all so blessed to have known Richard and lucky we will always have these cherished memories of a very remarkable man. God bless Debra and give her the strength and courage to make it through this very sad time, and to be there to comfort her children.

In the five days since Richard died, my mind still can't hold it. He was 
so real and full of wide-eyed wonder at the universe God made. Couldn't 
be gone.



Richard, I wanted more time with you. The conversation wasn't over. You 
weren't over. The world wasn't finished with your kindness and faithful 
care for others, especially your family, your dad, your wife, Debra, 
Jireh and Hosanna, your young adult children, your brother and sisters 
and all those you treasured, family members, friends, coworkers, church 
members -- even strangers.



Today I woke up, remembering a cold night last January when you and 
Debra and I went to see the movie, /Lincoln/, and then ate together at 
Frisch's. It was a good evening, It's a good memory.



When Debra called Monday, so deeply stunned by losing you, my first 
thought was how wounded Mom would be by your death. I felt the news only 
as a full body blow. Then, in my heart, I could see her take you into 
her arms, sorrowing only for us who are left, and delighted to welcome 
you into the presence of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

What a terrible shock!! Although I didn't know Richard as well as I wish, he & I worked in the same organization at SAIC for awhile, and I grew to like and respect him for his kindness, his goodness, and his talents. The world lost a very good man, much too early.  My most sincere sympathies are with the family.

So sorry for your loss.  May God be your source of comfort and strength during this difficult time.

I will always be thankful for the opportunity to know Richard Loreaux.  He was a genuinely kind and loving person who cared so much for others.  His family and friends have lost a true treasure and he will be sorely missed.  May God wrap His comforting arms around all of you in this time of grief but think of him often and smile.

In the gospel of John, Jesus talks about the Father seeking the true worshippers - Richard was that. I've never met someone so in love with Jesus. I am saddened to not be with Richard now, but knowing he's with Jesus comforts me. I also thought about where Paul talks about his dilemma - he desired to be in presence of the Lord, but also desired to be in this world to do God's work. Richard was a great friend, always had time to encourage and strengthen me. I can honestly say that I've never had another friend like Richard in my lifetime. My heartfelt prayers are with his family who I've been fortunate to know as well.  Grace and peace to you with love.

Richard was so kind and genuine. I send my condolences and deepest sympathy, Debbie, Hosanna, and Jireh. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers.

I am so saddened to hear of Richard's passing. He was my high school classmate and, although I haven't seen him in 35 years, I am compelled to write to note how vividly I remember his kindness, his sweetness. Yes, he was brilliant, too, but over the years since high school I've leaned very well that kindness really does trump all. I'm so glad that you were able to revel in Richard for as long as you had him, and I'm very, very sorry that you lost him so soon. I almost didn't write because I never kept in touch, but Richard merits the written tribute, no matter how distant. My deepest condolences to you, his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Richard on-and-off for the past two years. Richard was not only a talented computer scientist but also extremely patient, kind, encouraging, funny, and helpful. I was extremely saddened to learn of his passing, and I hope you find solace in the fact that Richard often mentioned how much he loved and cared for his family.

Nancy & I were saddened to find out about Richards passing but know he is now in the loving arms of Jesus.

Debbie, death is no stranger to me, what I have learned through my grieving is God will carry you through and the memories of Richard will flood through your thoughts. Driving in to work this morning I heard a song that might bring you confort, it is entitled, "There Are Angels Among Us" and it tells us that they (Angels) are here to help us through life's trials.  I pray that your Angel helps you find peace and acceptance in the days to come as Richard's Angel guides him home.
