Richard Harrison Short

SHORT, Richard “Dick”, age 79, passed away at the residence Monday, September 26, 2011. He was born December 20, 1931 in Lima, Ohio to the late James and Rose Short. Richard was a United States Navy Veteran who worked for Standard Oil in Lima, Ohio for many years. He also owned and operated several Barbershops in the Dayton area. Most recently the Washington Meadows Barber Shop on Whipp Road in Washington Township. Dick is survived by his wife of seven years, Signe Woods of Washington Township, children; Denise “DeeDee”Bills of Findlay, OH., Diane Taylor of Walker, MI, Doug Short of Lima, OH., Scott Woods of Grand Canyon, AZ., Lora Diller of Van Wert, OH., and Kevin Woods of Oakwood, OH., grandchildren; Brittany Bills of Charlotte, WV., David Bills of State College, PA., Danielle Taylor of Kalamazoo, MI., Nick Mattevi of Ft. Lewis, WA., Andrew Diller of Bach, Germany, Holly Diller of Van Wert, OH., Nathan Diller of Van Wert, OH., Janie Woods of Oakwood, OH., and Phoebe Woods of Oakwood, OH. Memorial service to be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Fairhaven Church 637 E. Whipp Rd. with Rev. James Futrell officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Inurnment will be at the Dayton National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Dick’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
