

Richard H. Shutte, age 92 of Beavercreek, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Tomi Shutte, in 2001, a son Richard D. Shutte and by his parents, Francis and Sarah Shutte, as well as three brothers and one sister. He is survived by five children: Sandra Dahling (William) of Bellbrook, Stephen Shutte and (Chris) of Springfield, Cindy Dahdah (Salim) of Beavercreek, Jeffrey (Katherine) of New Carlisle, and Thomassina (Robert) Werden of Cincinnati. Thirteen grandchildren also survive him: Sarah Bishop, Elizabeth Miller, Richard Brown, Stephanie Berkheimer, Stephen Shutte, Patrick Shutte, Joshua Shutte, Richard Shutte, Zachary Shutte, Lori Shutte, Matthew Kunk, Jennifer Hutchinson and Michael Richardson., as do 27 great grandchildren. Richard graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in accounting and received a PhD in Law from Chase College. He was a USMC Veteran of World War II, having served on Guam. He was later to become a US Vice-consul, serving at the US Embassy in Yokohama, Japan and a professor of Law at The Ohio State University. Friends may call at the St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432 on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the church at 10:30 Monday, with Father Thomas Nevels, Celebrant.
