Russel Lee Sullenbarger

SULLENBARGER Russel Lee 74, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Lakeside Manor in Dayton, Ohio. Russel was born July 1, 1939 in New Madison, Ohio to Dorothy and Roy Sullenbarger. He graduated from Greenville Senior High School in 1955 and joined the Navy in 1958 and served for 30 years. Personal decorations include the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V”, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Campaign and service awards include the Good Conduct Medal (six awards), the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. Russel is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 45 years of marriage, daughter, Liza, son, Russel Jr, daughter, Annette, daughter Alicia, and son Pastor; 8 grandchildren; one great grandchild. Russel was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He enjoyed listening to music, spending time with family and traveling. A celebration of life service will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00pm, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME_FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Avenue; Dayton, Ohio 45429.
