Ruth Koop

Born at home in 1929 in Covington KY, Ruth graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1947. She joined the Catholic Theatre Guild of Northern KY in 1948 where she met her "handsome husband" Gene. They married in 1954, a day which she always described as THE happiest day of her life, and cherished 58 years together. Ruth spent three decades raising seven children, each one her favorite. She then returned to school to retrain for the computer age, working for DP&L and NCR before retiring. Ruth loved to dance, cherished a good laugh, treasured time with her family, and lavished her grandchildren with raspberry kisses. On March 31st, after 82 years well lived, Mom’s gentle, kind soul left her earthly challenges to dance freely in heaven. She leaves behind the love of her life, Gene, and seven children Kathy Van Cleve (John), Bob Koop (Anne), Jeanne Reisinger (Tim), Bill Koop (Becky), Carol Lang (Steve), Mary Leonhardt (Jim), and Tony Koop (Melissa); her seventeen grandchildren Brandy and Nathan (Niki) - Matt (Stephanie), Janelle (Joe), Aaron (Jennifer) and Jonathan - Justine and Max - Paul and Sarah - Ava, Colin and Rachel - Alex and Kasey - Zoe and Xavier; and four great-grandchildren Dustin, Blake and Brianna - and little Jonah born a few weeks ago. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ruth is also survived by her sister Rosie Fischer, a wide extended family, and many dear friends from Florida, Ohio, and Kentucky. She will join you in spirit for happy hour each evening at 4 pm. Visitation Easter Sunday, April 8, 5 - 8 pm at Tobias Far Hills Chapel (5471 Far Hills Ave, Kettering OH 45429); Funeral Mass Monday, April 9, 12 noon, St. Albert the Great Church (3033 Far Hills Ave, Kettering OH 45429).
