Sharon Kay Long 69 of Kettering passed away Monday April 23, 2012 with her family by her side at Hospice of Dayton, due to Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She was born July 5, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to James Shelley and Martha Hyland. Sharon graduated Fairmont High School in 1960. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed contributing her time to Noble Circle, Optimist Club and breast cancer fund raisers, as well as helping loved ones in times of need. Sharon is survived by her husband, Bill Long of Kettering, her son and his spouse, Bob and Gail Sturos of Hayes, Virginia; her brothers, Bob and Mike Hyland of Dayton, Ohio; several nephews and nieces; and good friend, Barb Latta of Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Shelley and Martha Hyland. A closed casket funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BELMONT CHAPEL, 648 Watervliet Ave. Friends may call from 9 am to 10 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton in memory of Sharon.
