Sheila A. Smith

Smith, Sheila A., age 64, of Dayton, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2015. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 10, 1951, the daughter of Richard J. and Eva C. (Logston) Ryder, who preceded her in death. Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, James C. Smith; her children, Angela D. Neargarder, Amanda E. (James) Sexton, Sara B. Smith, Jared T. Smith and Joshua T. Smith; two grandchildren, Nicole and Timothy Sexton; three sisters, Jane (Ken) Wiseman, Ann (Larry) Johnson and Mary Boston; a brother, Barry (Donna) Ryder; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian (Maria) Smith and Jeanni Allamon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Sheila, a lifelong educator was a lover and supporter of children of all ages, retiring from the Dayton Public School System as an Instructional Aide. She was an active member of the APEX Community Church. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Apex Community Church, 5200 Far Hills Avenue with Pastor Rob Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 5- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the APEX Community Church Care Team or The Hospice of Dayton.
