

ZECH, Thecla Rose Marie (Koesters), age 89, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025. Thecla was born on July 22, 1935, in Mercer County, Ohio to the late Leander and Barbara (Hess) Koesters. She was preceded in death by her Husband of 30 years, Richard; her sister, Carol Deis; sisters in law, Joyce (Gerald) Zech, Connie (Ronald) Zech, Joanne Koesters, and Linda Koesters; and brothers in law, Joseph Pasquel and Jeffery Showalter. She is survived by her sisters, Diana Koesters and Marlene Showalter; brothers, Ronald, Denis (Dawn), and Bernard (Sue) Koesters; brother in law, Mitch Deis; and numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was a graduate of Julienne High School and the University of Dayton. She was well known for her administrative skills in the printing industry for 50 years and later worked as the office manager at St. Henry Parish. She was active in the practice of her catholic faith. She held office in the Dayton Catholic Women’s Club and was a lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Henry Parish. She and her husband were avid U.D. Basketball fans and held season tickets since the arena was built. Due to Alzheimer’s Thecla was forced to give up her independent living and moved to Otterbein Senior Living in Springboro, Ohio, where she received excellent care and was loved by the staff and other elders for her kind disposition and lovely smile. She will be greatly missed by her whole family. We, her family, would like to thank the Otterbein Community for taking care of Thecla and giving her a safe environment to live in for her last years. We would also like to thank Deacon Rich Hobbs for faithfully bringing her the Word of God and Communion every Sunday.
