Wanda R. Carter Smiley

SMILEY, Wanda Renell (Carter), 78, of Dayton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her family cherishes the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Christ’s faithful love for her. Our blessed lives would not be, if not for her love, guidance and sacrifices she made through her life. She was the beloved mother of two daughters and one son, Tammy L. (Bill) Czyzewski of Centerville, OH; Teresa A. (Rodney) Smith of Brick, NJ; Todd C. (Christine) Smiley of Chapel Hill, NC. She was a loving grandmother to Andrew Smith, Tyler Smiley, Zachary Smith, Jonathan Czyzewski, Trey Smiley, Carter Smith, Jessica Czyzewski and Tommy Smiley. She leaves behind close relatives, friends and the staff of St. Catherine’s Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Smiley; parents, William and Dolly Carter; brother, J. C. Carter and sisters; Madge Zimmerman and Velma Bales. During her life she was employed with National Cash Register (NCR) and Rike’s Department Store. She was a past member of Dayton Baptist Temple and during her life time she was involved in many church programs and ministries with her volunteering roles including Sunday School Teacher and Children’s, Bus, and Summer Camp Ministries. She loved the game of basketball. Her athleticism was passed to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her family and before getting sick, she loved to travel, especially to each of her children’s homes to be a part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2013 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel; with Pastor Chip Tudor, of Fairhaven Church, officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, Ohio. If so desired, contributions may be made in honor and memory of Wanda R.
