Funeral for Clifford Brooks Bennett Jr., 79, of Decatur will be Friday, August 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Alan Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett, who died Monday, August 9, 2010, in Decatur, was born May 17, 1931, in Pemberton, W.Va., to Clifford B. Bennett and Lelia Cassity Bennett. He had 20 years of service as Engine Manager with the United States Air Force and 12 years with Decatur Transit. He was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. His daughter, Sandi Bennett Smith, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Dye Bennett; one son, Steven Brooks Bennett of Jasper; one daughter, Lynda Gayle Henley of Blue Springs, Mo.; one brother, Frank Bennett of Largo, Fla.; one sister, Gloria Duffy of Wayne, Mich.; six grandchildren, Anna Willingham of Decatur, Jessica Bennett of Jasper, Kristen Bennett of Nauvoo, Jim Henley and Patrick Henley of Overland Park, Kan., and Michael Henley of Independence, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Luke and Sam Henley of Independence, Mo., and Jackson and Mattie Henley of Overland Park, Kan.
