David was known for his kind and caring nature and his deep love of music. He enjoyed participating in musical productions and found great joy in the arts. He was especially proud of earning his commercial pilot’s rating, a milestone that reflected his determination and passion for aviation. He loved talking about flying, particularly with his sister-in-law, Maria, sharing stories and enthusiasm for the skies.
David will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his musical heart, and the warmth he brought to those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Eugene McElhannon and Dorothy Tench McElhannon and brother, Donald Eugene McElhannon.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Willis (Tony) and nephew, Joshua Willis (Maria).
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2026, at Calvary Assembly of God in Decatur, Alabama. Friends will be received at 2:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Pastor George Sawyer will officiate. David will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.
