Frank Thomas Mathenia Jr.

Our beloved father Frank Thomas Mathenia, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 5, 2026 at the age of 79. He is survived by his brother, Danny C. Mathenia, son, Frank Mathenia, III, and daughters, Christina Mathenia, Melissa Gail Williams (Michael); seven grandchildren, Cory Mathenia (Mary), Jaycee Camielle Garrison, Austin Mathenia, Rolando Mathenia, Lura Grace Williams, Josiah Williams and Jacob Williams, and several great grandchildren.

He was born in Caruthersville, Missouri on April 3, 1946. He was known as a gentle and kind soul. He loved spending time with his grandkids and watching their antics. He loved going out to eat, loved a good joke and was up for any adventure thrown at him. The last few years he was enjoying life at City Center Village and scooting around Downtown Decatur, AL at his pleasure. He loved the Lord and knew he was redeemed by grace through the Messiah. He was prepared for the end of his earthly journey and ready for eternity with the Heavenly Father.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank T. Mathenia, Sr, mother, Mary Louise Oliver Mathenia, sister, Margie Gaither, and brother Richard Mathenia.

The funeral will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home on Saturday January 17th, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10am. All friends and family are welcome. The family asks that donations be made to the bingo fund at City Center Village instead of flowers or other gifts.
