October 20, 1980-April 17, 2025
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Staggers, age 44, who left us far too soon but whose life was nothing short of extraordinary. Born on October 20, 1980, to Patricia and William Staggers. Gary lived a life packed with adventure, passion, and love.
Gary’s journey was as bold as his spirit. He lived at full throttle-from working on a NASCAR pit crew and traveling the country, to later taking a complex engineering roles with NASA that showcased his brilliance and drive. His final position was Beyond Gravity, where he made lasting friendships and continued to push boundaries in his career. Gary was always chasing purpose, fueled by curiosity, determination, and an unrelenting work ethic. Whether under the roar of a racetrack or in the quiet focus of technical innovation, Gary gave it his all.
Gary was a passionate sports fanatic, with an unwavering loyalty to the Clevland Browns. His love for sports extended far beyond football, as he was also a dedicated fan of basketball and other sports, always finding joy in the trill of the game and the camaraderie that came with it.
In addition to his professional achievements, Gary earned an associate degree from Mitchell Community College, studied mechanical engineering at Clemson University, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and two master’s degrees from Mississippi State University and the University of Tennessee, all through which he pursued his academic passions and cultivated lifelong friendships.
Outside of his professional and academic accomplishments, Gary found joy in the simple things-fishing, being outdoors, and testing his luck at the casino tables. He lived fast loved hard and gave everything he had to those around him.
He was a devoted father to Gage Staggers, a beloved son, and fiercely loyal brother. Gary had an especially close relationship with his brother Larry Staggers, who has Cri du Chat syndrome. He loved Larry deeply and stepped in to help care for him with tenderness, patience, and strength. He is also survived by his sisters Tara Brooks (and husband Ed) and Tricia Staggers, and was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Terry Staggers, whose memory remained close to Gary’s heart.
Gary leaves behind three cherished nieces: Brittany Staggers. Lauren Staggers, Morgen Shoup, and a cherished nephew, Peyton Brooks. All of them adored their fun, fearless uncle, who never failed to make them laugh and feel loved.
Gary lived with a kind of intensity that was rare. He met every challenge head-on with courage, wit, and a heart that embraced life without hesitation. His absence leaves a hole that words can’t fill, but the impact he has had on his family, friends, and all who knew him will live on.
As his loved ones navigate this profound loss, they are lifted by memories of his laughter, his stores, and his unwavering love. They are deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness from those who’ve reached out during this time.
In honoring Gary, we remember a man who lived without limits-and loved without fear.
