

Henry Earl (Hank) Nix passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015. He was 85. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Tammy in 2005. He is survived by his wife Ruby, his two daughters Vicki Corbett of Jacksonville, Florida and Ginger Hardy of Madison, Alabama, his grandchildren Carmen (Jack), Heather (Randy), Neal (Jessie), Matthew, Paden and his great-grandchildren Lauren, Victoria, Matthew, Samantha, Avery and Payne. He was very loved and will be missed by Ruby’s children Patricia Mori (John) of Chicago, Illinois and Ronald Atkins of Dallas, Texas and their families.
“Hank” was born in Carbon Hill, Alabama on June 3, 1930. He entered the army in 1946. During the Korean Conflict, his unit was captured and he was a POW for 34 months. When the conflict ended he was released. He remained in the military, attending flight school and was a helicopter pilot until his retirement in 1965. He then became a civilian instructor pilot for the US Army at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He resided in Ozark from 1965 to 2010 when he moved to Madison, Alabama to be closer to his daughter. He had a love and a gift for woodworking and enjoyed gardening.
His service will be held in Decatur, Alabama on Monday, December 28, 2015. On Tuesday, he will be transported for burial to Woodlawn Cemetery in Ozark,Alabama. The family welcomes anyone wishing to pay their respects from 1:30-2:00 at graveside.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. We love you Dad.
