Karen Hughes (Mote) Mixon

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Carol Hughes, and her husband, Cary “Bubba” Mixon.

She is survived by her children Andy Turner (Becky), Amy Mote Long, and Allison Mote Moore (Alan); her grandchildren, Courtney Turner Kellough (Drew), Chandler Turner Clark (Logan), Caroline Turner Hammond (Caleb), Maddie Grace Long Dodd (Andrew), Caden Long, Audrey Jenkins, Eli Moore, Avery Jenkins, Ally Jenkins, Gracie Moore and Finn Moore; great-granddaughter Elisabeth “Ellie” Hammond; and siblings, Mel Hughes (Susan), Philip Hughes (Lynne) and Warren Hughes (Valerie).

Karen retired from Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company after forty years of service. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She said many times that her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Along with valuing family time, she also enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her plants and flowers. She was a lifelong Auburn University fan and loved to watch her Tigers play.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Alabama Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
