Laverne Lay Roberts

Laverne was born June 29th, 1937, in Cullman Alabama. She was a loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother, in addition to being a retired Avon lady of 50+ years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, Alabama. She enjoyed Big Bob Gibson’s loaded potatoes, hosting family gatherings and relaxing by the pool, building puzzles, spending time with family and traveling to her favorite beach Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her two children Jimmy Roberts (Renee Roberts) and Cindy Roberts Moses (Phillip Moses). Grandchildren, Spring Roberts, James Roberts (Ana Roberts), Lauren Moses-Cobb (Charlie Cobb), Alex Moses-Arrowood (Raleigh Arrowood), McKenzie Moses-Faires (Kurt Faires); Great Grandchildren, Cooper Atkins, Ben and Jack Roberts, Sully Cobb; Three Brothers, Terry Lay (Brenda Lay), Rick Lay (Sheila Lay), Roger Lay. She was preceded in death by her husband James Roberts of 60 years and brother Bill Lay (Jo).

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Roberts, James Roberts, Charlie Cobb, Kurt Faires, John Ivy, Dwight Goodman. The family would like to give special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Decatur Morgan, CCI, and all the family and friends who cared for her during these times.

A visitation for Laverne will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Chapel, 123 Church St NE, Decatur, Alabama 35601, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. The service will be officiated by Blake Kersey.

Laverne will be laid to rest in Burningtree Memorial, 4919 Marsha Ave, Decatur, AL 35603.
