Lois Virginia Jones Powell, 91, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Webster officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, General B. Jones and Rossie Lane Eugas; husband, J.C. Powell; son, John Carl Powell; son-in-law, Dwight French. She was born December 7, 1921, in Morgan County. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include daughters, Sandra Maddox (Marvin) Herron of Decatur, Rita Paulette Maddox French of Dickson, Tenn., Gina Powell (Craig) Wipperman of Venetia, Pa., Joni Powell (John) Marshall of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; sister, Peggy Riggs of Decatur; grandchildren, Greg Herron, Ginny Vinson, Jason French, Erin Wipperman, Audrey Wipperman, John Marshall, Joey Marshall; great-grandchildren, Sydney Herron, Connor Vinson, Wyatt Vinson.
Pallbearers will be Greg Herron, Jason French, Craig Wipperman, Marvin Vinson, David Riggs and Danny Riggs.
