
Funeral for Dr. Robert M. Miller Sr., 89, of Decatur will be Friday, March 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard Lawson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Dr. Miller, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital, was born June 19, 1920, in Columbus, Ohio, to Beryl Morgan Miller and Pearl C. Miller. He graduated from Columbus East High School and attended Ohio State University, LSU, Tulane Medical School and graduated in 1952. He served his internship and residency at Crawford Long Memorial Hospital. Dr. Miller moved to Decatur in 1957 to start his medical practice. He was a member of the American Medical Association, board of trustees of the Alabama Medical Association and the Morgan County Medical Association. He was president and former chief of staff of Decatur General Hospital. Dr. Miller retired from his medical practice in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Jones Miller of Decatur; one son, Robert “Bob” M. Miller Jr. of Fairfax, Va.; daughter-in-law, Dorian Anne Miller of Fairfax, Va.; and six grandchildren, Whitney, Morgan, Kyle, Hannah, Erin and Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Jim Daniels, Jim Tucker, Russell Grimes, Morgan Miller, Bill Waldo and Olin Rosier.
Memorials may be made to the Free Clinic of Decatur Morgan County.
