Patsy Gayle Nixon

Patsy Nixon, 90, of Decatur, AL, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Her visitation will be on Sunday, June 22, from 1-2 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, AL. There will be a graveside service following the visitation at Roselawn Cemetery. Dr. Travis Collins is officiating.

Mrs. Nixon is survived by her 2 sons; Steve Nixon (Lynn), and Patrick Nixon (Laura); 5 grandchildren, Ginny Sumrall (Jon), Stephen Nixon, Elizabeth Koenig (Paul), Will Nixon and Matt Nixon; 5 great-grandchildren, Sam Sumrall, Sadie Sumall, Stella Sumall, Selah Sumall and Georgia Koenig; sister, Peggy Wipperman; brother, Johnny Stephenson (Patsy) and step sister, Linda Davis.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ray Nixon, Parents, Clyde Stephenson and Christine Stephenson Mitchell, Step father, Melvin D. Mitchell, and Brother, Bobby Stephenson.

She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She taught in the special needs class for most of that time. She also volunteered in many civic organizations and was President of the Decatur Jaycettes.

Pallbearers include Stephen Nixon, Will Nixon, Matt Nixon (Honorary), Jon Sumrall, Paul Koenig, Will Stephenson and Matt Stephenson.

The family requests that memorials be made to Central Baptist Church in Decatur, AL or First Baptist Church Oasis Ministry, Governors Dr., in Huntsville, AL.
