

Funeral for Robert David Rahm Sr., 87, of Decatur will be Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Skelly and the Reverend Gary Formby officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Rahm, who died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at River City Nursing Home, was born June 22, 1924, in Lancaster, Pa., to Charles and Helen Rahm. He graduated from Georgia Tech and worked for Noland Company for 42 years. He served as a deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Cahaba Shriners Temple in Huntsville and Rotary Club of Decatur and a Paul Harris Fellow. Bob served on the boards of Junior Achievement and Decatur Industrial Development and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ruth Saye Rahm.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Johnnie Burton Rahm; sons, Robert David Rahm Jr. (Sherri), Decatur and Richard Scott Rahm (Jani), Wilson, N.C.; daughters, Gretchen Rahm Willis (Tom), Vienna, Va., and Heidi Rahm Ross (Rod), Alexander City; stepsons, Dave Commander (Lynn), Alexander City and Steve Commander (Lee), Fairhope; stepdaughter, Amy Commander Foley (Bill), Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Willis Lutz (David), Ashburn, Va., Amanda Ross Schwarting (Brad), Homewood, Erin Leigh Ross, Smyrna, Ga., Wendi Rahm Miller (Joey), Atlanta, Ga., Blythe Thatcher Rahm, Breckinridge, Colo., Robert David Rahm III (Amanda), Mobile, Brittan Rahm Cary-Coleman (Jeff), Greenville, N.C., and Jeremy Scott Rahm (Catherine), Raleigh, N.C.; stepgrandchildren, Brendan Foley and Liam Foley, Dallas, Texas, Beth Commander Berry, Alexander City, Lisa Commander Peffer (Brad), Tuscaloosa, Daniel Commander and Steven Commander, Fairhope; great-grandchildren, Matthew Lutz and Katherine Lutz, Ashburn, Va., Eva Cary-Coleman, Greenville, N.C., Stuart Schwarting, Birmingham; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Brooklyn Berry, Alexander City and Riley Peffer, Tuscaloosa.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rahm, David Rahm, Bobby Allfrey, David Lutz, Matthew Lutz, Rod Ross, Tom Willis and Bill Foley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Aycock, Paul Blackwell, Ray Frederick and Bob McKenzie.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Alabama or Meals on Wheels of Decatur.
